Why A Wonder: Ash Cave is massive, making humans feel like ants. It was once occupied by early inhabitants. The waterfall is a bonus.

Where: Hocking Hills State Park is located near Logan, Ohio, southeast of Columbus. Ash Cave is on one of many trails inside the park. The round trip hike is less than a mile long.

When: Any time of the year makes for a good visit. It can be quite hot in the summer, but the temperature is a bit cooler at the cave than in the park proper. Sometimes the waterfalls freeze over in the winter.

Photography: Be sure to have a very wide angle lens to capture the complete majesty of this cave. Even with that, you might have to merge multiple photos. A tripod is useful as well.
