WONDER: Coyote Buttes South is part of the 280,000-acre Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. It has some of the most spectacular sandstone formations in the world which is why it is nothing short of a wonder.

Where: It is located in the Norther Arizona-Southern Utah area and a permit from recreation.gov is necessary to enter. GPS Coordinates Latitude 37.03704 Longitude -112.52438. A four-wheel-drive high clearance vehicles necessary due to the deep sand and sharp rocks. There is no camping inside the National Monument and the closest town are Kanab and Page.
When: There is a potential for extreme temperatures and flash floods so Spring and Fall are the best times to go.
Photography: This is very much wide-angle lens country (12-35mm) although a medium zoom can be used for abstracts and small scenes. A polarizer will be specially useful if there are small pools to do reflections. Also, bring a tripod for sunrises and sunsets.
