Cannon Beach, Oregon
This is such a departure from my typical images. I was walking on the beach on the Oregon Coast, and I took an abundance of images of the famous Haystack Rock. When I thought I was all through, I turned in another direction to head back to my car, and in corner of my eye I saw the most beautiful sky. The pattern almost mimicked the ripples in the water and sand. Sometimes, I'm so focused on what I came to shoot, that I forget sometimes, amazing things happen when you're looking in another direction. Glad I caught this. I really didn't want to get the waves in focus, or have them be a large part of the image. I wanted to focus on what initially caught my eye: the patterns, and the contrast in light and dark.
