U Bein Bridge
Updated: Jun 4, 2022
Why a Wonder: The largest teak bridge in the world.

Where: Mandalay, Myanmar.
When: The Dry Season (October to May).
Photography: Sunrise (above) and sunset (below) are good times to photograph the U Bein Bridge because you can get dramatic silhouettes during these times. It's also a wonderful experience being in a small boat on the water around this impressive structure in the golden hours.

For the best views, hire a guide with a small rowboat who can get you into the best positions for creative photographs. Because the boat can “zoom” for you, you’ll be able to get both wide shots and close shots with a lens like the Canon 24-105mm lens.
Include people in your photograph to add a sense of scale. When composing a photograph, try to isolate the subjects – pilings, people, trees – in your frame so they don't overlap. To accomplish this goal, you'll need to direct the boat driver, and you'll need patience.
