Just about everyone who tours China stops at the Great Wall. Probably near Beijing. Along with thousands of their closest friends. This location is a wonder because it's the terminus of the wall, where it extends out into the sea to discourage horse-mounted invaders. The tourist season is spring through fall. Don't expect to be surrounded by other tourists. And don't expect to find anyone else who speaks English. This location is mainly known by the Chinese. Advice: Book a guide. For more information just look it up on the internet. C2019 Buddy Weiss

A wonder because of the number of falls which pour over the cliff in a wide arc. Located near the city of Mt.Shasta, CA. It is just one of ten plus waterfalls in a loop starting in Redding, CA. On summer weekends this can be quite crowded. Visit during the spring or fall and definitely on weekdays. The world has found out about this wonder. There are several view points on an easy trail which leads from above the falls to the base. Bring a wide angle lens. Information can be found at the Redding CVB website. C2021

Although the entirety of Arches National Park is a wonder of the first magnitude, Balanced Rock is a singular wonder in itself. The shape is quite exquisite, and the fact that it still stands after all these millenia makes it a total wonder. Arches National Park is only a short drive from Moab, UT. And Balanced Rock literally can't be missed since it's only a few feet off the main road though the park. Spring and fall are perhaps the best times to visit because of light traffic and mild weather. Winter will allow you to see it with a white veneer of snow. Summer is hot, busy with traffic, and you now have to have a reservation. As far as time of day, in the evening just after sunset will allow you to photograph it so that Balanced Rock is also balancing the moon on its tip. Bring every lens in your kit to cover all of the wonders of Arches. C2022 Buddy Weiss

The Kenai Fjords, which are accessed out of Seward, AK are a wonder of glaciers (if you haven't seen and heard a glacier calving, you have a treat coming) wildlife and rock formations like these magnificent pitons rising from the frigid depths. Summer is the best time of the year to visit due to the cold, dark months the rest of the year. Tour boats range from 200 people to just 8 including crew. You will probably want to cover a lens range from 24 mm to 400 or longer to get the grand land/seascapes and the distant wildlife. Information is available on the Seward, AK visitors bureau website.
